Chennai.,

The Cinema and Entertainment Industry  Co nference (MEBC – South Connect) organize d by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) was held at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel in Guindy, Chenn ai.

Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nad u Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin presided o ver the conference and addressed the event as a s pecial guest.

Mr. Kamal Haas san said that since the T amil Nadu government is a government that listens to the demands of the industry and makes efforts to resolve them, I am using this platform to make a reque st on behalf of the film industry to which I belong. The film industry is suffering due to taxes like GST of the Central Government. When the entertainment tax of the state government is added to this, it becomes a double taxa tion. If the enter tainment tax of the state government is abolished, it will be a relief for the Tamil film industry, which is facing various crises.

The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, who delivered the keynote address, me ntioned in his speech that the artist’s re quest would be taken to the attention of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and considered. Besides, he also announced the Tamil Nadu Governmen ent’s announcement to set up a residence for film artists on a 90-acre land in Panay yur.

Mr. Kamal Haasan expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Tamil film industry for the se announcements.
