Movie Review -:
Actor Vimal, known for his story-driven role s, is starring in the horror murder mystery film Paramasivan Fatima – which also stars Chaaya Devi in a pivotal role. The film begi ns with a series of bizarre murders targetin g brides in a quiet village. This time around, a police officer is b rought in to investigate the murders, bu t uncovers a shocking and unexpected truth.
The story slowly unfolds how the once ha ppy couple Paramasivan (Vemal) and Tamil Selvi (Chaaya Devi) later convert to Christia nity and become entangled in a web of myst ery and revenge. Their pas st, filled with lov e and betrayal, plays a major role in unraveli ng the suspense.
At many points, the film vaguely echoes the tone and structure of Telugu cinem a’s Man galavaram , with a similar plot, here the mot ive behind the murders take s a different p ath. Unfortunately, despite the potential for an engaging thriller, the execution fails.
The biggest drawback of Paramasivan Fati ma is its excessive running time – 148 minu tes. The story feels stretched, and a tighter cut to around 120 minutes could have impr oved the overall experience considerably. Director Isakki Karvannan tries to highlight the sensitive subject of interfaith dynamics and conversion, but the central story feels dated and lacks e motional depth or narra tive freshness. The screenplay only works in certain area s, and the thrills are too few to keep the audience hooked.
In terms of acting, the screen presence o f Vimal and Chaya Devi is lacking in the first half. On the contrary, Sashwitha, who plays another heroine, delivers a rem markable p erformance, and the actor w ho plays her M uslim partner also does ju stice to his role. The song depicting child hood love stands out as a rare emotional climax. Technically, the film is average. While the cinematogra phy shines in so me scenes, other aspects like the back g round music, editing, and p roduction de sign fail to elevate the storytell ing.
