Story -:
In the 1970s, the government evacuated and acquired several villages in Theni district to build the Vaigai Dam. As a result, the people of those villages faced economic hardship. Consequently, some of them engaged in illegal activities, including cannabis smuggling.
Rokkapuli (Sarathkumar) lives in the area near the Vaigai Dam. He is the godfather of the village. At one point, Rokkapuli helps Kombuseevi Pandi (Shanmuga Pandian), who is alone and vulnerable. Pandi then joins forces with Rokkapuli.

Following this, the two become involved in several smuggling operations. Along with money, they also earn many problems, including enmity with police officers. What these problems do to Rokkapuli and Kombuseevi is the story of ‘Kombuseevi,’ directed by Ponram.

Movie Review-:
The first half of ‘Kombu Seevi’ moves at a brisk pace with thrilling action sequences, while the second half beautifully blends emotional scenes and humor, making it engaging. This film is based on a true incident that took place in 1996. The story revolves around the protagonist who gets caught up in village feuds, caste conflicts, and political conspiracies, and how he handles these problems.

The biggest plus point of this film is the chemistry between Shanmuga Pandian and Sarathkumar. Shanmuga Pandian shows great proficiency in his acting. He is impressive in the action sequences. When he lifts his leg to kick, he looks just like Captain (Vijayakanth). Sarathkumar has gone all out with his comedic performance. The heroine, Tharnika, who plays a police officer, looks stunning.

The songs composed by Yuvan are excellent. The ‘Karuppan’ song, in particular, which comes during the interval, is fire. The background music is very pleasant; especially the “Vasthara” song, which is very enjoyable in both its visuals and music. While Ponram uses his signature style in the screenplay, the dialogues are also delivered with the same modulation.

However, he has presented this film in a way that is different from his previous works. The comedy works well. There is no significant lag when the scenes move with comedy. Some of the comedic scenes could have been written better. For those who just want to have fun without worrying about logic, this film is a perfect treat. Overall, it is a good family entertainer.
