Story-:

This is a story that recounts the miracles of Sathya Sai Baba, the spiritual guru who lived in Puttaparthi.

In his final days, he summons five of his devout followers from across India. Shadows Ravi completes this task, and upon this invitation, Mumbai businessman Jagapathi Babu, Y.G. Mahendra from Palakkad, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Abirami Venkatachalam from Chennai arrive in Puttaparthi. The story revolves around them sharing the miracles Sathya Sai performed in their lives.

Accordingly, Jagapathi Babu recounts the miracles Baba performed during a bank robbery in Mumbai, while Y.G. Mahendra explains how he went to Puttaparthi to understand the reason behind his wife’s death on his 30th wedding anniversary.
The story continues with each of them narrating Baba’s miracles…

It’s a wonderful surprise to see Jagapathi Babu, who usually plays villains and criminals in films, appearing as a good and devout man who guides the robbers towards righteousness.

There’s nothing surprising about Y.G. Mahendra’s performance in the Palakkad scenes. His wife Sri Ranjani’s touching performance is also commendable.
Deva’s music, both in the songs and the background score, spreads a devotional atmosphere.

It’s another surprise that Suresh Krishna, who directed films like Annamalai and Baasha, directed this devotional film.
The film concludes by narrating Sathya Sai’s miracles, encompassing many such surprises. As they themselves say, those who believe in him will understand it and will not stray from that belief.

Movie Review-:

The film ‘Ananda’ is based on the life experiences of the devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The story begins at the Sai Baba Hospital in Puttaparthi. People from various walks of life gather there when the hospital administrator informs them that Sai Baba once asked them to come to the ashram for the last time. Suhasini, Jagapathi Babu, Y.G. Mahendran, and Thalaivasal Vijay share their experiences of the changes Sai Baba has brought about in their lives.

Written and directed by renowned director Suresh Krishna, the film tells the story of the problems faced by humans in life and how Sai Baba’s divine grace changes them in the form of a series of short films. Each episode is set with emotion and devotion in mind
Although the film moves a bit slowly and predictably in the beginning, the interest increases as the stories unfold one after the other. Rather than Sai Baba’s life story, the main focus is on the divine faith experienced by his devotees. This makes the film seem more like a documentary than a narrative film. In all the episodes, Y.G. Mahendran’s part is very well done. The way he expresses the loneliness and mental anguish of an old man who has lost his wife is heartbreaking. The twist and emotional ecstasy in the story is the strongest moment of the film.

In contrast, the episode played by Jagapathi Babu seems a bit artificial. The bank robbery incidents and the emotional expressions of his character seem shallow and forced. At some places, the film goes into unnecessary didacticism and loses its originality.

Although Suhasini’s part is emotional, it is a bit long. The scenes where the doctor conveys the divine presence of Sai Baba are handled well.

Y.G. Mahendran leads the way in the acting. Suhasini’s performance is also satisfactory. The other actors have fulfilled their roles at an average level. The production quality is good and Deva’s background music further strengthens the emotion of the story.

Overall, ‘Ananda’ is a devotional drama film that speaks of the greatness of Sai Baba and the faith of his devotees. While some episodes are emotionally touching, others are more educational. This film will be a spiritual experience for Sathya Sai Baba devotees and those interested in devotional stories.
