Movie Review-;

Asterix and Obelix are characters that entire generations have grown up with. This French comic series was sta rted by René Goscinny in 1959. French director Claude Zidi made the first film on it in 1999, titled ‘Asterix and Obelix vs Caesar’. people liked this film, so by 2012, three more films related to ‘Asterix and Obelix’ were made. These films also retained the fantasy legend of Asterix and Obelix. Now after a long time, Asterix and Obelix are back on the big screen again in the film ‘Asterix and Obelix the Middle Kingdom’. The film has been released in its original language i.e. French in february itself. But, now going to india, this film is being released in india in Englis h, Hindi, and tamil languages.

For fans of the comic books, its always great to see your favourite characters come to life and the film fulfils that expectation with superb recreations of the Gaul village and look and costumes of the characters.However, Aste rix was a tad smaller in build in the comics than Obelix, but in this movie it is not so. The scenes of emotion betw een the duo however , do leave a mark. The scenes with Ceasar are interesting viewing. The travel to China how ever, gives a feeling of moving too far away from the Gaulois world of Asterix. One wishes for more scenes with the Romans instead. However the Chinese Empress does leave a mark with her presence. Though they are grand, the war scenes dont make much impact.

The trademark humor quotient of the franchise and comics, is not that high in this version. Overall, a watch for t he family audiences, looking for cinematic spectacle, a superb recreation of the Gaul world and loads of adven t ure. Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom is different, being the fifth film in the comic book series centered aro und the characters of Asterix & Obelix, with four films so far. The reason for this is that it is the first time that thi s film has come out as a live-action film with a stand-alone story and not based on comic books. … Asterix and Ob elix travel to China with the mission of rescuing Princess Fu Yi (Julie Chen), the only daughter of the Chinese E mperor.

The princess’s problem is to save herself from a prince named Deng Tsin Qin (Bun Hay Mean). She escapes from him, but seeks the help of Asterix & Obelix to rescue her mother and country from his clutches and goes to Gaul, where they live. They also agreed to travel with the princess, but the prince came to China with the help of the G reek knight Caesar to rescue the princess. Although it sounds like a serious story, the film is a comedy. I don’t know if the Greek emperor could copy Caesar so much.

 Caesar’s wife Cleopatra leaves Caesar and runs away with a gym teacher. The dialogues of this movie in Tamil m ake us understand and laugh. Written by Philippe Mechelen and Julien Hervé, this adventure comedy stars dire ctor Guillaume Canet as Asterix and Gilles Lellouche as Obelix. The film is releasing in three languages namely E nglish, Hindi and Tamil on May 12th this summer vacation with a mix of comedy and action to enjoy with the fam ily. Comedy lovers can enjoy the antics of Asterix and Obelix at the theater with the family.
