Chennai, 19 November 2024: As part of its mission to champion India’s Oral H ealth journey, Colgate-Palmolive (Indi a) Limited, the country’s leading Oral Care brand, has announced the launch of its transformative Oral Health Move ment.

This unique AI-enabled initiative aims to encourage Indians to prioritize thei r Oral Health, while leveraging technol ogy to bridge the gap between the awa reness and accessibility of Oral Health care in India. This initiative aligns wit h Colgate’s commitment to elevate Ind ia’s Oral Health status through ecosyst em building and science-led innovatio ns, positioning Oral Care as a significa nt priority and contributor to the nati on’s overall health.

At the heart of this movement is an AI dental screening tool developed in par tnership with Logy.AI, which allows us ers to receive an instant AI generated dental screening report through a sim mple WhatsApp interaction. Available in 9 leading Indian languages, anyone can participate by scanning the QR cod e on the recent Colgate product packs or by dialing 8806088060, answering a f ew questions, and uploading three ima ages of their mouth to receive a free A I-powered dental screening report.

Furthermore, Colgate has partnered w ith the Indian Dental Association (IDA) to activate a network of 50,000 dentist s  to support the Movement and offer f ree dentist consultations to people  po st the tool-based screening. To ensure widespread reach, the Movement aims to cover multiple touchpoints like reta il stores, educational institutions and corporates across multiple cities in In dia.

The company’s flagship education prog ram, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Fut ures® (BSBF) has gone strength to  stre ngth in India, reaching over 180 millio n on school children since 1976. 90% of Indians suffer from Oral Health issues* and yet, 80% of urban Indians  don’t brush twice daily and a mere 9% visit a dentist in a year.

A comprehensive pan-India study cond ucted by Colgate and Kantar in 2023 un derscores why prioritizing Oral Health is the need of the hour. According to th e study, (North) only 10% of the region visits the dentist each year. However, t he region also reports that 18% people experience toothaches, while 14% face gum problems.

According to the study, East India repo rts that only 8%visit the dentist each y ear. However, the region also reports that 27% people experience toothach e s, while 21% suffer from sensitivity co ncerns and 15% have cavities. Notably, 22% of East India faces gum issues, whi hich is 60% higher than the national ra te.

According to the study, while South In dia is more conscious about their Oral Health, only 9% visit the dentist in a ye ar, 14% experience toothache.

According to the study, West India rep ports higher instances of advanced de ntal procedures, with 10% of dentist vi sits a year. That being said, currently 1 4% experience tooth sensitivity while 1 6% are facing toothaches according to the study.

Through the power of partnerships, Co lgate’s Oral Health Movement will leve rage an extensive network for maximu um impact. Apart from its partnership with the Indian Dental Association (ID A), the company will collaborate with a significant number of retail custome rs, educational institutes, housing soci eties, bus stations and corporates for o n-site free dental screenings.

The Oral Health Movement is accompa anied by a mass media campaign, rolle d out across television and digital plat forms urging people to take dental scr eenings, supported by nationwide on-ground activations and influencer par tnerships. Through this multi-faceted approach, Colgate aims to reach milli ons of Indians.
