About Chennai…?
Chennai has always been special to m e. My life started here. I have many un for gettable experiences in Chennai.
What inspired me to act in the film?
After hearing the story of this film, de spite all the commercial aspects, it is basically a love story. I liked it a lot. T he fans w ho watch the film will also f eel this love closely.
You look different in this film than the u sual Naga Chaitanya.. Regarding thi s..!?
When I met Director Sandhu, he expla in ed the screenplay of my character in this film. After hearing it, I believed th at it w as the right opportunity for the actor to showcase his talent. The story of the fil m is also a long journey from Sri Ka Kula m near Visakhapatnam, to Gujarat, from there to Pakistan, to a pr ison there, and then back to his native land. This fascinated me a lot.
After that, I went to Sri Ka Kulam in pe rson and met the fishermen there and tal ked to them about their lifestyle – p ronunciation style – body shape – profe ssiononal style – and learned about th em.
What are the challenges they face whe n they go to sea? How do they face the m? I asked them about all this in deta il.When they go into the sea to catch fis h, they stay in the sea for about a mont h. When they are in the sea, their cell phones do not work. They have no con nection with this world. After hearing all this, I becam e inspired and started preparing myself for this character. This made a big differ ence in my film journey. Be it my appear ance… my bo dy language… my local dialect, my acc ent… I was immersed in this f or almo st a year. This journey gave me an unf orgettable experience.
The character Raju that I played in the film ‘Dhandel’ affected me in many wa ys. All the feelings related to the evolu tion of a human being arose while play ing this character. It also made me rea lize th at we should treat people with love.
How was the experience of working wit h the director?
This is the third film that I am acting i n under the direction of director Sand hu Mondetti. Every film is in a differen t genre. The story of this film. The bud get of th is film. Its grandeur. The qual ity of produ ction.. everything is new f or me and the director. It has never be en in any film be fore. It is huge. This shows the growth of the director.
Sandhu thinks a lot for me. He has sho wn me in a new look in this film. Be it a lov e scene… a fight scene… a dance sc ene… Sandhu is always there for me. F or this, I thank him at this moment.
What is your hobby apart from acting?
Apart from acting, I am involved in car r acing. For this, I thank Chennai agai n. I have watched car races held at the car ra cing ground in Irun gattu Fort, Chennai. I have enjoyed it. It is just my hobby. I hav e not taken proper trainin g for it. However, I have driven racin g cars when I get free time.
