(IPRS) and the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) are delighted to celebrate the success of KOLAB, the In do-Korean Music Collaboration Progra mme, which concluded with an exclusi ve listening session on November 13th in Andheri, Mumbai. In a vibrant gath ering of notable industry figures and d istinguished guests, the audience came together to celebrate the emerging art ists of KOLAB. They were given an exc lusive first listen to the incredible son gs crafted during the KOLAB songwrit ing camp, experiencing firsthand the c reative magic and unique collaboratio n that unfolded. The event provided a n unparalleled platform for the artists to showcase some of their finest, colla boratively crafted songs, blending Indi an and Korean musical elements in wa ys that captivated the audience. This u nique experience fostered exposure a nd potential career growth for the art ists, whose compositions left a lasting impression on the distinguished audie nce of industry leaders.
From November 6th to 12th, 2024, at th e True School of Music, Vijaybhoomi U niversity, Jamrung, 19 music creators from India and South Korea, collabor ated to produce cross-cultural compo sitions. Through immersive sessions o n songwriting, composition, and produ ction, they blended Indian and Korean influences to create vibrant, globally a ppealing music. Guided by leading mu sic creators, Bunty Bains and Mayur P uri, who were the Creative Directors a t the song-camp, the participants drew from their diverse cultural backgroun ds and distinctive musical styles, creat ing music that embodies the energy of this groundbreaking cultural exchang e.
Reflecting on the initiative, Mr. Mayur Puri, lyricist, screenwriter, film-direct or and Board Member at IPRS, shared, “KOLAB has brought young creators fr om India and Korea into a truly collab orative space, allowing them to expres s themselves freely and create someth ing genuinely original. This initiative b reaks away from commercial constrai nts, enabling artists to blend their uni que styles and cultural roots naturally
Kim Kibeom, Board Member KOMCA, a dded, “This camp has brought about a transformation for the Korean artists. It provided them with an opportunity to break away from their usual creativ e habits and be inspired by collaborati on with Indian artists. By experiencing the diverse music styles and cultures u nique to India, their artistic horizons h ave broadened.”
Vinay Prabhakar, Dean – True School o f Music, Vijaybhoomi University add e d, “Hosting the first edition of KOLAB a t Vijaybhoomi University has been an unforgettable experience! Seven days, two nations, 19 talented artists, and a dedicated team of 35 volunteers and s upport staff all came together to make this debut event a remarkable success. With South Korea and India—two nati ons rich in culture, art, and entertain ment—joining forces, KOLAB has not o nly led to inspiring creative outcomes but also fostered bonds that will last a lifetime.
Adding his enthusiasm, Bunty Bains, L yricist, Composer, Producer & CEO of Bunty Bains Productions, shared, “Bei ng part of KOLAB as Creative Director and curator of the song camp has been an incredibly rewarding experience. T he artists have not only demonstrated remarkable talent but have also embr aced each other’s cultural influences, crafting music that beautifully blends Indian and Korean legacies.
Sharing his views, Rakesh Nigam, CEO of IPRS said, “I believe that genuine, i mpactful music is born from an enviro nment where artists feel free to exper iment without the pressure of produci ng hits. Through this relaxed, collabor rative spirit, the artists have produced songs that are truly inspiring and full of promise.”

KOLAB’s listening session in Mumbai marked not only the culmination of th his remarkable collaboration but also the beginning of new artistic partners hips between the India and South Kor ea. As IPRS and KOMCA continues to f oster meaningful cultural exchange th rough such initiatives, KOLAB paved t he way for emerging artists to gain re cognition and build connections that e levate their music on a global stage.
