We Celebrate Malayalam Films, But Ov verlook Tamil Cinema” – Director Justin Prabhu Expresses Concern*

Manjal Cinemas Golden Suresh and S. Vi jayalakshmi presents “Vembu”*

Debut filmmaker Justin Prabhu’s direct orial features Madras fame Hari Krishna an (Johny) in the lead role with Sheela pl aying the female lead character. Marimu thu, Jaya Rao, Pariyerum Perumal-Karn an fame Janaki alongside many others w ill be seen playing the pivotal roles.

While the film’s postproduction work is already completed, the makers are plan ning for release shortly.

Uthra Productions (Hari Uthra) that has been consistently releasing many movie s, and witnessing tremendous success is releasing this film on May 23 across man y screens. On the other hand, the film ha s been screened at various international film festivals.

Likewise, Hari Krishnan has won the Bes t Male Actor Award and Sheela – The Be st Female Actor Award at Ahmadabad I nternational Film Festival. The entire cr ew is elated for having found an incre di ble accreditation through these honour s.

Filmmaker Justin Prabhu says, “Both the lead actors Hari Krishnan and Sheela ha ve been consistently choosing unique co ntent-driven roles in their career.

In the same manner, the role that Hari K rishnan has donned in this film will defia ntly surprise the audiences. The honour s of Best Actor Award at Ahmadabad Fil m Festival has exhibited this fact signific antly.

Recently, actor Vikram raving about Har i Krishnan has created a huge sensation.

Actress Sheela’s ‘To-Let’ has won more t han 100 International Film Festival Awa rds and her ‘Mandela’ won National Aw ards. With ‘Vembu’, she has made her fir st appearance in the Film Festival and h as won the Best Female Actor Award at Ahmadabad.

So far, many have been valuing the Inter ernational Film Awards, but I feel our o wn National Film Festival Awards are pr ecious.

We often celebrate the beautiful movies of Malayalam film industry, but we fail t o sing praises and value the best movies created in our own Tamil film industry.

It’s great to see Tourist Family winning e veryone’s hearts.

Movies like this have social-centric issu ses as the backdrop, but have witnessed commercial success as well. Sivakarthik eyan’s commercial hit movie ‘Don’ too e mbellished the beauty of father-son bon ding.

The current trend of Tamil Cinema has a lways been inclined to the emotional an d sentimental concepts, and audiences a re loving it. Vembu will be one among th is league that will endorse the social val ues as the core concept laced with senti ments.

This is not just a film for women — it is a story for the entire generation. In today’ s world, it emphasizes how a father shou ld raise his daughter with safety and dig nity, the importance of giving her the re spect she deserves, and how both husba nd and wife must understand and suppo rt each other through life’s circumstanc es. It also highlights how children, even as they chase their dreams, should neve r forget to respect their parents. The fil m is filled with such heartfelt and meani ngful moments.

So far, we have been witnessing Hari K rishan as the North Chennai boy, but th is film will exhibit him in a village based character. He took laborious efforts in g aining the rural linguistic skills and bod y language & mannerisms for this role.

Theater Lab Jaya Rao is playing Sheela’s father character in this movie.

Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan and Vaazha i fame Janaki will be seen playing an em otional role it his movie.

A. Kumaran of ‘Thanga Magan’ fame is h andling cinematography and his visuals will be highly appreciated in this film. ‘R ebel’ fame Manikandan is composing m usic. Miruthan fame K.J. Venkatarman is overseeing editing works for this film. T he others in the technical crew include Gopi Karunanidhi as the art director.

The producers of the film, Mr. Golden Su resh and Mrs. S. Vijayalakshmi, are the t rue driving force behind the quality of t his project — a film that’s now worthy of being submitted to prestigious awards. Their constant encouragement and who lehearted support made all the differen ce.

Despite this being my debut as a directo r, both Sheela and Harikrishnan never tr reated it that way. Their dedication and f ull cooperation throughout the shoot h elped us complete the film on schedule.

As of now, preparations are underway f or the release of Vembu on May 23, with Hari Uthraa set to release the film on a l arge scale. I truly believe the audience w ill connect with and appreciate this film.
