In yet another feather to the hat of Da tuk Seri Dr. M. Saravanan, Rotary Club of Madras North honoured the Membe r of Parliament, Malaysia and Deputy President of Malaysian Indian Congres s with the prestigious Global Icon Awa rd.
The award was presented to him at Da nce of District Season 12 event held at Ethiraj College in Chennai on Novemb er 24 (Sunday). Rotary Club President Shabeer Nazeer, Secretary Mary Amut ha, DOD-Chairman Joseph Raja and Dir ector Vocational Service Priyadarshini among others were present at the fun ction.
Dr. Saravanan was chosen for the awa rd for his exemplary leadership in fost ering regional cooperation, promoting unity, and uplifting the underprivilege d across borders, and also for his mult ifaceted persona spanning politics, spi rituality, and literature.
In his acceptance address, Dr. Saravan an said, “It is both honour and privileg e to receive this most prestigious awar d from the Roatarians. My heartfelt th anks to all of you who are here. I am h onoured to receive this award more th an being honoured by being giventhis award. I am proud of this award.
As far as I am concerned, awards are n ot given for what we have worked so f ar, but for what we will continue to wo rk for. And whether I am worthy of th he award you have given me so far or not, I will definitely prepare myself in the future. Thank you, warm greeting s.”
