
24-year-old Taiwanese Student wins the tit le of ‘World’s Best Coder’ at TCS Cod eVita 2025
In its 12th edition, the global coding compe tition attracted a record number of registra tions from over 537K students across 96 co untries

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532 540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT service s, consulting, and business solutions annou nced the winners of its global coding conte st Code Vita at a grand finale held at the TC S Siruseri campus in Chennnai. Jeffrey Ho, 24, from Taiwan took h ome the winning tit le at the competition that holds the Guiness World Record TM as the world’s largest com puter progra ming competition.
Building on the theme ‘United by Code’, this season of Code Vita brought together the b rightest minds in programming, pushing the boundaries of coding excell ence. In its 12 th edition, the competition attracted over 53 7K registrations the highest ever – from ac ross 96 countrie s.
TCS CodeVita takes a gamified approach to promote coding awareness among student nts. Over the years, hundreds of students h ave completed internships at T CS, with the top three coders each seaso son being giv en the opportunity to inter rn directly with t he TCS Research and In novation team. Cod eVita consists of three rounds of coding ch allenges. In Round 1, contestants must so lve at least one challenge to advance. In Ro und 2, they face a new set of complex prob lems. Every year, only the top 25 contest an ts make it to the final round.

The TCS Research & Innovation team ha s developed a framework that automate tes the submission, compilation, and eva aluat ion of contestants’ code. They also support the submission, compilation, and evaluation of code across eight programming languag es for Code Vita. The challenges are curat ed by experienced TC S coders in The Phila codist Club. This ye ear’s questions ranged from formula bas ed problems and algorith mic challenges to real-life applications and data structure-related tasks.

While Jeffrey was awarded the winning ca sh prize of $10,000, the runners-up Martin Andrighetti, 24, and Ignacio Munoz , 22, fr om Chile were awarded $7,000 and $3,000 respectively. Notably, And righetti won the competition in 2024. This season also reco gnized Top Woman Coder Ankitha Varma, 2 0, from India an d Top Emerging Coder Zhou Jingkai, 19, from People’s Republic of China .

Held on March 21 in Chennai, the grand fin ale brought together 25 finalists from eight countries including Spain, Chile, Peru, Ecu ador, Brazil, China, Taiwan, and India. Apart from the contestants, the 12 th season of T CS Code Vita was also attended by His Exce llency Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru and Sunita Shahaney, Hon orary Consul of Chile in Chennai along with TCS business leaders and academicians.
