Story-:
Even though India gained independence in 1947, Portuguese dominance persists in Goa. Salvador is a dreaded figure among gangsters, supported by Raya (Yash) and his elder sister Ganga (Nayanthara).
Raya and Ganga, who are driven by the need to avenge their parents’ killers, rise through the ranks of the drug-smuggling underworld. Raya, who leads a hedonistic and toxic lifestyle, grows close to his boss Salvador’s daughter, Rebecca (Tara Sutaria).
When Salvador learns of this, a marriage between Raya and Rebecca is arranged.
Meanwhile, Raya also becomes intimate with Nadia, a circus performer visiting Goa.
Consequently, Nadia becomes pregnant. The rest of the story unfolds as Salvador discovers this, revealing the ultimate fate of Raya, Ganga, and the others involved.

Movie Review-:
Geetu Mohandas, who established herself as a leading actress in the Malayalam film industry before transitioning to directing films like *Liar’s Dice* and *Moothon*, helms this project.
The immense anticipation surrounding the film *Toxic* stems from the fact that it stars Yash under her direction and features prominent actresses such as Nayanthara, Kiara, Rukmini Vasanth, and Huma Qureshi.
Geetu Mohandas has crafted this film—shot in both Kannada and English—as an action-packed emotional drama. In the first half, the director skillfully portrays the extent of the character ‘Raya’s’ toxicity and the nature of his actions.
We have seen many films featuring a protagonist like Raya, who engages with a character like Kiara without clearly distinguishing between love and lust; however, the dialogues spoken by these characters add weight to the scenes. Violence is a staple of gangster movies, but this film takes it to another level.
In particular, the violent sequences surpass even those seen in *KGF*. Furthermore, the inclusion of obscene scenes is off-putting. There are also lapses in logic. While the first half moves along interestingly, the interval leaves one wondering, “How did things end up like this?”
The second half tests the audience’s patience, primarily due to the film’s excessive length. Until the major twist is revealed, the director leaves the viewer wondering what is actually going on; consequently, the twist itself feels difficult to accept when it finally arrives.
Had the action sequences and the overall runtime been trimmed, the film’s core message would have certainly been more satisfying to the audience. As for the cast, Yash delivers a stellar performance; his screen presence is commanding and intense. Nayanthara and Kiara have effortlessly portrayed their characters.
Rukmini does not have a significant role, whereas the characters played by Tara and Huma Qureshi are spot-on. Technically, the film is spectacular and grand; the crew has successfully recreated the atmosphere of Goa during the 1940s and 1960s. Ravi Basrur’s background score and the dialogues are major strengths of the film.
