Movie Review -:

Alcoholism does not only affect a person’s body. Director Prabhu Ram C has tried to mix comedy with how it affects every aspect of his life like family, economy, work and relationships.

For that, Harish has formed a group of wine lovers.

But in the first half, the scenes move around the same thing like drinking, partying and gala, so it gets a bit boring at some point.

The announcement of prohibition of alcohol comes just when you think, ‘What is the director trying to say with this story?’

After that one announcement, the trajectory of the film changes.

Till then the film was a comedy based on drinking, after which it starts talking about the life of alcoholics.

This is the major plus of the film.

In the second half, they not only look for an alternative when alcohol is not available, but also talk about how to get out of the habit.

Especially the part where Harish quits drinking and starts a new business attracts attention.

In this place, the film gives hope to those who think that they cannot live without alcohol and to those who think that they cannot change their life after being addicted to a habit.

They have also recorded simple things like rehabilitating alcohol addicts and bringing them back to normal life without alienating them.

Harish carries most of the film on his shoulders.

As the leader of the Madhu Priyayar Sangam, he has acted cheerfully in the scenes where he is drinking with his friends. The same Harish, who is forced to change his life, also shows a change in his performance in the second half.

Dhanalakshmi’s character, who doesn’t completely disdain Harish even after learning about his drinking habits, helps in the romantic and sentimental parts.

Dhanalakshmi is also a reason for Harish’s life to change.

But here comes a small doubt.

If everyone has a Dhanalakshmi-type girlfriend who can tolerate no matter how much they drink and is there to change their lives, it’s not a problem… But where do you find such a girlfriend?

Mottai Rajendran guarantees laughter in the film.

His character as a councilor is laughable at many points.

Especially the scene where he says that he is going to brew the fake liquor and at the end he puts garlic juice in it is a good comedy.

Mottai Rajendran has scored in his usual dialogue delivery, facial expressions and body language.

Sakishna Xavier’s music and songs are okay. The background music has contributed to the comedy and sentimental parts of the story.

Inian J Harish’s cinematography colorfully captures the Gudi and Galata scenes of the first half. When the character of the story changes in the second half, he has recorded the scenes in a suitable manner.

The picture was taken by A. Produced by Sargho Pandian.

The motif taken by director Prabhu Ram C is a good thing.

But the first half has a lot of drinking scenes so it takes a while to get a clear idea of what the film is trying to convey.

The screenplay would have been more lively if those scenes had been cut down and the Prohibition announcement had been brought into the story sooner.

But after the announcement of prohibition the film takes its true course.

It is possible to recover from the effects of alcoholism, not just showing it and ending it; The good thing about the film is that you can start life again.

Especially in the climax, the director’s message clearly reaches the audience.

In the first half, ‘Nalla Picham’, which travels through drinking, drinking and comedy, shows another facet of the same drinking in the second half.

It is commendable that alcoholism has not only been used as a subject for comedy but has tried to talk about its effects and ways to recover from it.

The film would have been sharper if the length of the first half and some repetitive drinking scenes had been reduced.

But the second half and the climax make up for those flaws to some extent.

Director Prabhu Ram C has finished the film in a way that makes you think ‘What kind of film is this?’

A ‘good film’ – a film that makes drinkers laugh and think a little at the end!
