Chennai, February 8th , 2025: The Eigh th Edition of “ALERT Being” Awards (A BA) was held today to honour and reco gni se Good Samaritans from various walks of life. ALERT, a voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to makin g the ‘Rig ht to Life’ a reality in India, o rganized th e award ceremony and pre sented awar ds to 14 real-life heroes w ho have helpe d save or preserve lives in the following categories: individual s, organizations, a nd people going abo ve and beyond.

Sivathanu Pillai, Distinguished Sc ientist, I SRO and DRDO graced the aw ards ceremony as Chief Guests and ga ve away the awards to real-life heroes selected by th e distinguished membe ers of the ABA jury. The ALERT Being Awards under the Individual category was presented to 8 real-life heroes wh o put their life at sta ke. The Category of Going Beyond Call o f Duty was pres ented to Ms. Sabeena, a nurse from Nil giris who risked her life to give first ai d to those injured in the Way anad Lan dslide.
Under Organisation Category: India T urns Pink from Chennai and Samugam Trust from Puducherry received the a wards. The ALERT Being Icon award w as pres ented to the incredible Forest Officials team of Wayanad Division (La ndslide at Wayanad). The distinguishe d members f the ABA Jury were Ms. Ve ena Kumaravel, Founder, Natural Gro up of Salons: Thiru. Md. Shakeel Akht ar IPS, Chief Inform ation Commission er, DGP(Retd); Nawab z ada Mohamed Asif Ali, Heir Apparent & Dewan to the Prince of Arcot; Dr. J.S. Rajkumar, Chai rman and Chief Surgeon, Lifeline Hosp itals; Mr. Sujith Kumar, Founder, Maat ram Foundation and Mr. Ana ndakrish snan, a serial entrepreneur. The event had advisors in Dr. Renuka David, Man aging Director, Radiant Medical Ser vi ces and Mr. C. K. Kumaravel, CEO and Co-Founder, Natural Group of Salons.
Conferred by the Board of Trustees of ALERT, The ALERT Being Organization ICON Award was presented to PSG & S ons Charities Trust from Coimbatore f or their legendary philanthropy along with excellence of service in education and health; The ALERT Being Individ ual ICON Award was presented to Maj or Se eta Shelke, who representing the Indian Army led a team of 140 Jawans in constructing the Bailey Bridge in a record tim e of 31 hours to help the res cue of peop le in the catastrophic land slide at Way and.
Mike Muralidharan, Chairman, ALERT, sabid “With the Good Samaritan Law in place and more colleges coming fort h to install the ALERT Golden Army ch apters, we aim to generate 1 crore vol untee ers equipped to save lives.” He w ent on to state that “At times of an eme rgency, most people have the heart to help, but do not know how to go about it. The aim is to have more people eva ngelised in handling emergency respo nse to save prec ious lives, so that no li fe is lost for dearth of attention”.
Speaking about the awardees, Ms. Kala Balasundaram, Founder Trustee sai “T he 8th edition of the ALERT Being Awa rds is a tribute to the extraordinary sp irit of humanity. These heroes didn’t w ait for a title or a moment – they stepp ed up whe n it mattered most. This is more than a celebration- it’s a movem ent to make lif e-saving preparedness, a way of life.”
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rajesh R Trivedi, Co-Founder & Managing Trus te tee, ALERT said, “We could not have lau nched the tech initiatives for emer gency response in a better setting than in the presence of real-life heroes as w e celebrate them. The tech initiatives such as th e ALERT Academy e-learnin g course; th e ALERT AiD WhatsApp Bo T, that anyon e can use as a quick reck oner during real emergencies; and the Virtual Reality mo dule in emergency r esponse that will im me rse a learner in real life simulated scenario to hand le emergencies on the ro ad.
