THE INDIAN NAVAL SHIP INTERCEPTS SUSPICIOUS BOAT IN PALK BAY The Indian Navy maintains continuous vigil over the crucial waters of Palk Bay, which separate India and Sri La nka. During the early hours of Oct 21, 2022, a suspicious boat was observed by the Indian Navy ship on patrol in Palk Bay near the India Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). Despite repeated warnings, the boat did not stop. The ship, as per standard operating procedures, fired warning shots to stop the boat. One of the crew onboard the suspicious boat was reported to have sustained an injury. The Dir ectorate’s team won three gold and three silver medals and stood first in the Aero-modelling competition. It also came as runners up in the overall trophy. Chennai 14 July 2022 INDIAN NAVY RESCUES SIX FISHERMEN STRANDED OFF POINT CALIMERE  Indian Naval Ship Bitra, while on a routine patrol in Palk Bay, sighted a few fishermen stranded on their capsized boat off Point Calimere or Kodiakkarai on 13 July 2022 night. The Naval Ship immediately assisted and rescued them without any casualties. OCOAST GUARD EASTERN REGION GETS A NEW ALH SQUADRON IN CHENNAI Chennai 20 June 2022 COAST GUARD EASTERN REGION GETS A NEW ALH SQUADRON IN CHENNAI Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mark-III aircraft, inducted into Coast Guard Region (East) at Chennai on 20 June 2022. It will be the first aircraft of the newly created ‘840 Squadron’. The new squadron will be stationed at Chennai, the headquarters of the Eastern Region of the Indian Coast Guard. Three more ALHs will be added in the inventory of 840 Squadron shortly.
