2.5 CR WORTH TENDU LEAVES CAUGHT BY INDIAN COAST GUARD Chennai 14 December 2022 2.5 CR WORTH TENDU LEAVES CAUGHT BY INDIAN COAST GUARD IN GULF OF MANNAR Indian Coast Guard Ship “Vajra” while patrolling in Gulf of Mannar on 14 December, apprehended an Indian Fish ing Boat near IMBL with Tendu leaves, purportedly smuggling across the border. 108 bags of Tendu leaves (app rox 3.5 tons) worth approximately Rs. 2.5/- Crore recovered from the Boat. Boat has been brought to Tuticorin harbour and handed over to local authorities for legal action. * * * * * PS/12/22

INDIAN COAST GUARD RESCUED 03 STRANDED PERSONS Chennai 08 December 2022 INDIAN COAST GUARD RESCUED 03 STRANDED PERSONS ONBOARD FPU TAHARA DURING CYCLONE MANDOUS In a valiant act, Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) rescued 03 stranded persons from Floating Pro duction Unit (FPU) Tahara located 30 NM off Cuddalore at sea. The FPU is falling right on the track of Cyclone Mandous. During the night of 07 Dec 22, Coast Guard received information from office of Director General of Hydrocar bo n about personnel stranded in FPU Tahara and requested for emergency evacuation. Despite the prevalent fury of cyclone, Coast Guard ALH took off at sun rise on 08 Dec and braved the situation, evacuating 03precious li ves. PS/RMP/SS/12/22

NAVAL PILOTS AWARDED ‘WINGS’ AT INS RAJALI Chennai 09 December 2022   A Passing Out Parade was held today to mark the graduation of 99 Helicopter Conversion Course (HCC) at Nav al Air Station – INS Rajali, Arakkonam.  Nine officers of the Indian Navy were awarded the prestigious Wings b y Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, VSM, Flag Officer Naval Aviation and Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area.  A dditionally, the Indian Navy has, for the first time, undertaken Stage One Training of helicopter pilots, which hith erto used to be carried out with the Indian Air Force. Chennai 02 December 2022 STUDENTS VISIT TO INDIAN NAVY SHIPS ON THE OCCASION OF NAVY DAY-2022 Around 540 students from 04 schools of Chennai area visited onboard Indian navy ships at Chennai on 29 and 30 November 2022. The visit was organised by Headquarters-Tamilnadu and Puducherry Naval Area, as part of Navy Day Celebrations-2022 to inspire the young children to get the basic understanding of the Indian Navy and challenges in functioning at deep sea for safeguarding the nation and motivate them to join Armed Forces. INDIAN COAST GUARD APPREHEND FISHERMEN SMUGGLING Chennai 15 November 2022 INDIAN COAST GUARD APPREHEND FISHERMEN SMUGGLING  TENDU LEAVES WORTH RS 2 CRORES Indian Coast Guard Ship Vajra while patrolling in Gulf of Mannar on 14 Nov 2022 apprehended 02 Indian Fishing boats and 02 Sri Lankan boats engaged in smuggling of Tendu leaves near International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). 02 Sri Lankan fishing boats were apprehended after a hot pursuit as they were fleeing at high speed to cross the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). 104 bags of Tendu leaves (Approx 2.8 tons) worth Rs 2 crores recovered from Boats. FIVE FISHERMEN RESCUED BY INDIAN NAVY 5 November 2022 FIVE FISHERMEN RESCUED BY INDIAN NAVY An Indian Navy patrol vessel, INS Bitra rescued five fishermen in the early hours today, who were stranded on their adrift boat off Point Calimere (Kodiakarai) in Tamil Nadu coast due to engine failure. 32ND INDIA-SRI LANKA IMBL MEET HELD Chennai  5 November 2022 32ND INDIA-SRI LANKA IMBL MEET HELD The 32nd IMBL (International Maritime Boundary Line) meeting between India and Sri Lanka was held on 04 No v 2022. The meeting was co-chaired by Rear Admiral S Venkat Raman, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu & Puduche rry Naval Area and Rear Admiral TMAA Tennekoon, Commander-Northern Naval Area, Sri Lankan Navy. It was held onboard Sri Lankan Navy Ship Sayura, at sea, in the Bay of Bengal.  Issues related to Maritime Security and safety of Indian fishermen in the Palk Strait were discussed.  The Indian delegation urged the Sri Lankan security agencies to show a more humane approach towards the Ind ian fishermen.
