The buoy was adrift from its mo ored position since mid Nov 22. Tsunami Buoys play vital role in early detection of Tsunami waves generated by undersea earthquakes. Air Commodore Ratish Kumar is an alumnus of National Defence Academy with vast flying experience of over 5 000 hours on Sukhoi-30, Mig-21, Kiran and HPT aircrafts.  He is a Category `A’ Qualified Flying Instructor. 2.5 CR WORTH TENDU LEAVES CAUGHT BY INDIAN COAST GUARD Chennai 14 December 2022 2.5 CR WORTH TENDU LEAVES CAUGHT BY INDIAN COAST GUARD IN GULF OF MANNAR Indian Coast Guard Ship “Vajra” while patrolling in Gulf of Mannar on 14 December, apprehended an Indian Fish ing Boat near IMBL with Tendu leaves, purportedly smuggling across the border. 108 bags of Tendu leaves (app rox 3.5 tons) worth approximately Rs. 2.5/- Crore recovered from the Boat. INDIAN COAST GUARD RESCUED 03 STRANDED PERSONS Chennai 08 December 2022 INDIAN COAST GUARD RESCUED 03 STRANDED PERSONS ONBOARD FPU TAHARA DURING CYCLONE MANDOUS In a valiant act, Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) rescued 03 stranded persons from Floating Pro duction Unit (FPU) Tahara located 30 NM off Cuddalore at sea. The FPU is falling right on the track of Cyclone Mandous. During the night of 07 Dec 22, Coast Guard received information from office of Director General of Hydrocar bo n about personnel stranded in FPU Tahara and requested for emergency evacuation. Despite the prevalent fury of cyclone, Coast Guard ALH took off at sun rise on 08 Dec and braved the situation, evacuating 03precious li ves. PS/RMP/SS/12/22

NAVAL PILOTS AWARDED ‘WINGS’ AT INS RAJALI Chennai 09 December 2022   A Passing Out Parade was held today to mark the graduation of 99 Helicopter Conversion Course (HCC) at Nav al Air Station – INS Rajali, Arakkonam.  Nine officers of the Indian Navy were awarded the prestigious Wings b y Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, VSM, Flag Officer Naval Aviation and Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area.  A dditionally, the Indian Navy has, for the first time, undertaken Stage One Training of helicopter pilots, which hith erto used to be carried out with the Indian Air Force.
