Story -:

The first part of *Jailer* concluded with Rajinikanth eliminating Vinayagan, who had plotted to kill his family. The story of the second part picks up from there. After killing Vinayagan—a kingpin in the smuggling of ancient idols—Rajinikanth settles down in Coimbatore with his family. Suraj Venjaramoodu, seeking revenge for Vinayagan’s death, becomes determined to settle the score with Rajinikanth.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth infiltrates Suraj Venjaramoodu’s camp, aiming to get closer to S.J. Suryah, who has been issuing orders to the gang. This puts Rajinikanth’s family in danger once again, as another group arrives with the intent to wipe them out.

Did Rajinikanth manage to save his family from this precarious situation? Why is S.J. Suryah so intent on taking revenge against Rajinikanth? And what became of the priceless idols that were seized from Vinayagan? The rest of this fast-paced story provides the answers to these questions.

Movie Review

It is disappointing that the character of Suraj—who, by the interval, seems set to drive the narrative of the second half—is written out right at the start of that half.

Does Muthuvel Pandian never face defeat? Wouldn’t the screenplay be far more engaging if the hero encountered a major crisis that he had to struggle to overcome? Instead, whenever a problem arises, he neutralizes it the very next minute through his sheer prowess. It’s unclear just how many people he helped during his time as a jailer; the list has grown even longer here than in the previous installment.

Despite such logical loopholes, they fade into the background when faced with the magic that is Rajinikanth. Acknowledging that Rajini—due to his advancing age—can no longer perform the high-octane action sequences or dance routines of his past, director Nelson has leaned into his current strengths to craft an entertaining, ‘masala’-filled spectacle.

The film concludes with a hint toward a third installment. While there are a few sluggish moments, this ‘Jailer 2’ serves as a solid sequel that offers plenty of reasons for the audience to celebrate inside the theater.
