STORY

An old Anglo-Indian man Richard Walters, o n his death bed, realises that he has never acknowledged both sides of his mixed herit age, only the British male line while looking down and being ashamed of his Indian conn ections and ancestry.
As he lies dying on the last day of his lon g life, he decides to make amends and to atta in inner peace by apologising to his grands on’s Indian wife Shanthi, on beha lf of all In dians for his racist behaviour. However, not all of his family are happy with his decision which ignites conflict between the two brot hers. Peter lives in Chennai, Freddy in Melb ourne, who left India as part of the Anglo-In dian diaspor a, who has returned to farewell Richard; his estranged father. Prejudices, je alousness and disparities surface and add confusion to Richards last minuet attempt to make good. As Richard draws his last bre ath, he whispers a name but it is not his wi fe’s, his sons or his Makers name but that of his bolyhood nanny; Mary Ranani…
