*He-Man Fan Unni Mukundan On Voicing Malayalam Version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: ‘When I Received the Call, It Felt…’*

It seems only fitting that Unni Mukundan is lending his voice to He-Man in the Malayalam version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, considering he has long been a devoted fan of the iconic superhero himself. Having grown up admiring He-Man for his strength, courage and sense of justice, adding his personal touch to the character in the Malayalam version feels like a full-circle moment for the actor.
“I have been a huge He-Man fan ever since I was a child. I still remember eagerly waiting for Sundays, counting down the hours for a new episode to air. Like so many kids of my generation, I would proudly shout, “I have the power!” every time life threw a challenge my way. In many ways, He-Man was more than just a superhero to me — he was a reminder that courage, strength, and heart can help you overcome anything,” he said.
Recalling the call he received to voice He-Man, Unni said, “When I received the call to voice He-Man, it genuinely felt surreal. Here I was, getting an opportunity to lend my voice to a character who had been such a memorable part of my childhood. And to make it even more special, this also marked my first international collaboration. It honestly felt like a full-circle moment. I don’t think the reality of it truly sank in until I stepped into the recording studio, stood in front of the microphone, and delivered the first few lines. That was the moment I realised — this is actually happening. It was emotional, exciting, and incredibly fulfilling all at once.”
Speaking about He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, Unni said, “Having watched the film now, I can confidently say that He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a spectacular tribute to a character loved across generations. It captures the nostalgia fans grew up with while bringing a fresh energy to the world of Eternia. I am genuinely excited for audiences, especially longtime He-Man fans, to experience this adventure and hear me bring this iconic character to life in Malayalam.”
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Travis Knight, He-Man and The Masters of the Universe stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Jared Leto as Skeletor, with Man-At-Arms played by Idris Elba. The film also features Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto. The film aims to bring one of pop culture’s most iconic fantasy worlds back to life for a new generation.
Sony Pictures Releasing International releases He-Man and The Masters of the Universe theatrically on 5th June 2026 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
