Story -:.

Soori works at a theme park in Chennai. Back in his hometown of Ramanathapuram district, a man named Maari attempts to kill the son of Saattaipuli (Suhas) following a dispute over a boat race. When Saattaipuli resolves to kill Maari in retaliation, Maari is sent to seek refuge with Soori.

Upon realizing that Maari is the son of his former lover, Soori returns to his hometown after many years to mediate the dispute and ensure Maari’s safety.

Saattaipuli proposes a boat race between their two factions, stipulating that the losing side must never compete again.

The rest of the story unfolds around whether Soori succeeds in helping Maari win the race and defeat Saattaipuli, and reveals the nature of the conflict and the deep-seated animosity between Soori and Saattaipuli.

Movie Review -:

It seems Soori has truly transformed into an action hero; he embodies the persona of a fisherman perfectly. His intensity is palpable—especially during the boat racing coaching sequences and the moment he steps in to fight back when his trainee’s life is endangered by the antagonist, Saattaipuli’s son. *Mandadi* is undoubtedly another major milestone in Soori’s cinematic journey.

Despite being a Telugu actor, Suhas’s lip-sync is flawless; the voice dubbing—likely done by Vetrimaaran himself—fits perfectly, and his performance is menacing. The supporting cast—including Maari, Saattaipuli’s son, Mahima, and Sathyaraj—have all delivered excellent performances. The first half moves at a brisk pace, covering Soori’s return, the boat race coaching, the training match, and the vow he takes.

The training boat race sequence is particularly grand, offering a gripping, edge-of-the-seat experience for the audience. Much like the boxing in *Sarpatta Parambarai* or the rooster fights in *Aadukalam*, the boat racing in *Mandadi* is sure to leave a lasting impression.

In the second half, Sathyaraj enters as the coach ‘Muni’. While the flashback— explaining the history between Soori and Saattaipuli, the root of their enmity, why Soori left Mahima, and Sathyaraj’s fate—tests one’s patience slightly at times, the ensuing climax is a wild, high-octane boat race sequence.

It is truly a cinematic feast for sports enthusiasts. On the technical front, the cinematography realistically captures everything—from the live locations to the boat race. While none of GV Prakash’s songs are particularly memorable, the background score is excellent—kudos to him.

Soori delivers a commanding, one-man-show performance; Telugu actor Suhas receives a warm welcome in Tamil cinema. Boat race sequences climax and interval Cinematography The flashback could have been a bit more engaging.More details could have been provided regarding the boat race itself. Overall, Soori’s successful journey continues with this victory in the boat race film.
