Lineman Subbaiah (Charlie) is from a village called Uppala near Thoothuku di. His son is Senthil (Jegan Balaji). A y oung electronic engineer, he invents a device called Auto-Sun Switch, which automatically turns on the street ligh ts when the sun goes down and turns off when the light comes up. He hopes that this invention will bring a new da wn to his village. He thinks that if the government approves it, he can save e lectricity. Senthil goes to the collect o r’s office every day to get approval for his project from the collector, evalua ate his project and implement it, and to submit a petition to meet the colle ctor. But he is unable to meet the coll ector. On the other hand, Thalam uth an, who supplies salt to the chemical factories in the surrounding area, is harassing the people working in the Uppala area by giving them money at high interest rates, and he also uses st olen electricity for his salt.
More over, Thalamuthan is hostile to wards Char lie’s family because of Sub baiah’s con tinuous efforts to prevent illegal elect ricity theft. He also comes to Chennai and tries to meet the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and submit a p etition. But he fails in that too. Amon g the people who look down on him for his passion for new inventions, Senthil struggles t o get his invention recogni zed with the support and encouragem ent of his fat her Subbaiah, an electric lineman in the government electricity departme nt. When he starts doing so mething e xtraordinary to prove his w orth to the world, he faces many challe nges and t hreats, from murder to atte mpted mu rder. Will Senthil, an electr onics enth usiast who is interested in s etting up an electricity-saving device i n his vill age, overcome these challeng es and de ath threats and succeed in h is endeav or? Movie Review-:
Actor Charlie brings depth to the story in a pivotal role. Jagan has delivered a n emotional performance, perfectly fi tting the character of a man struggling to make his dream a reality. The fathe r-son bond keeps us rooting for him.
Saranya Ravichandran, Vinayagaraj, A run Prasad, Tamil who fights against t he toxic plant, and Aditi Balan, who a ppears in only one scene as the collec ector, have given fine performances.
Cinematographer Vishnu K Raja has e ffectively captured the essence of the village in Thoothukudi. Deepak Nand akumar’s music and Sivaraj’s editing a re a strong side to the realistic portray yal of village life.
Based on the real-life story of a deter mined person in Thoothukudi, the ha rdships and many struggles he faced, the screenplay has been written, reali stically illustrated and directed by Uda y Kumar and Vinod Shekhar with all th e potential for a commercial cinema.
Overall, Lineman, co-produced by Vin oth Shekhar and Dinakaran Babu, is a dedication to the scientists of tomorro w who are eager to showcase their tale nts.
