Docu Fest Chennai is a celebration of documentary cinema

Docu Fest Chennai is a celebration of documentary cinema from South Asia and beyond. We believe in the power of non-fiction storytelling to illuminate hidden truths, amplify marginalized voices, and foster meaningful dialogue about the world we share. Like the lighthouse in our logo—a tribute to Chennai’s maritime heritage—we aim to be a guiding light for documentary filmmakers and audiences alike, creating a space where powerful stories find their audience. The two-day festival, which began on 22 January, was inaugurated by Chief Guest, director Prem Kumar, and Guest of Honour, Mr. Sivan Kannan, President – ICAF. The festival showcases 14 films across 12+ languages over the span of two days. The festival is free and open to all.
