Leslie Carvalho was born and raised in Ban angalore and went to school and college th ere. He spent a year in Germany on a cultur al exchange programme and then studied f ilmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
His student film, Cherish & I won several aw ards.
He wrote, produced and directed his debut feature, ‘The Outhouse’ which was a warded the ‘Aravindan Puruskaram’ and ‘The Gollap udi Srinivas National Award’ for best debuta nt director.
He then wrote produced and directed a shor t film, ‘A Woman Too Many’
He consults as a script doctor.
He’s worked on several books on Bangalor e, ‘ Bangalore Blue ‘ ‘ Past & Curious ‘and ‘ S ports Legends of Bangalore ‘
‘Smoke on the backwaters’ is his debut nov el.
Leslie has been to several National and In ternational Juries several times. The Natio nal Film Awards, Indian Panorama, State Fil m Awards, and Student Film Juries.
He is a guest lecturer at a few colleges f or Film and Communication students. He’s be ven on the Academic Counsel of the Satyaj it Ray Film and Television Institute of India and has been on the Film Finance Commmit tee of the Entertainment Society of Goa.
An avid sports and games enthusiast, Lesli slie participates in the seniors athletics and tennis championships.
He is working on a Tamil film, ‘Raddiwallah’ and a book of short stories.
