Shocking and sad to hear the news about our legendary filmmaker, Iyakunarimayam Bharathiraja sir passing away and leaving us all this morning.
A visionary who changed the landscape of Tamil cinema forever, he brought the soul of our villages, our people and our emotions to the big screen like no one else could and most importantly brining such characters and iconic characterization with an everlasting impact in the minds of audiences even for decades to come.
His films inspired generations of filmmakers, actors and cinema lovers, and his legacy will continue to live on through every frame he created. His work will stant a testimony for any aspiring filmmaker and a Bible for filmmaking for one and all who would want to make a mark as a creator. The era of unbelievable cinematic experience ends with his demise.
Tamil cinema has lost one of its greatest storytellers.
Dear Sir, I will cherish every moment I spent with u onscreen. And the offscreen time I spent with u while working together as son and father in #PandiyaNaadu taught me so many lessons. Made me feel that moment that I am also part of this great film industry. The way you carried yourself as a youngster and being young at heart always with that infectious smile and tone always was an inspiration
My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers across the World, may God give strength to his wife and daughter Janani and to all the family members at this moment.
Rest in peace, Bharathiraja Sir.
PS: As a debutant director, I don’t feel it’s appropriate to release my first film teaser today. Postponing it is the least I can do as a mark of respect to you Sir and being a part of the same film fraternity.
