ICMR Recognises Dr. Anjana of Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) with Research Excellence Award
Chennai, November 14th 2024: Dr R M Anjana, President of Madras Diabetes Research Foundation and Managing Di rector of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Special ities Centre, Chennai, India received the “Research Excellence Recognition Award” in the Best Extramural Paper category at the DHR-ICMR Health Res earch Excellence Summit, 2024, held as part of ICMR’s 113th Foundation Day celebrations. The event took place on November 14, 2024 at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi and was presided over by Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble Union Minister of States in the Health and Family Welfare, and Minister of St ate in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fe rtilizers.
The summit honoured exceptional con tributions of biomedical researchers rbecognizing their impactful publicat ioions and innovative advancements in health research.
Dr Anjana’s paper on the ICMR-INDIAB study published in the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology in June 2023 was selec ted for this prestigious award. Dr Anja na has published nearly 400 research p apers and has an h-index of 81 and has been recognized as one of the top most young medical researchers and Scienti sts in the country by several agencies n ationally and internationally. Her cont ributions in the field of Epidemiology and Physical Activity especially the ev olution of ‘Thandav’ a High Interval In tensity Training (HIIT) activity involv ing dance as a method of preventing N on communicable diseases has been wi dely recognized nationally and interna tionally.
