SIMS Hospital Launches ‘Care Bears’ – A Fr ee Paediatric Health Check-up Progra m for Children in Government Palvadi and Kinder gartens Across Chennai

· Aims to reach 10,000 children below the age of 5 by the end of the year.

On the occasion of World Health Day, and in line with this year’s theme “Healthy Beginni ngs, Hopeful Futures,” SIMS Hospital, Vada palani, a leading centre for advanced health care services, launched ‘Care Bears – Nurtu ring the Future’, a citywide free paediatric h ealth check-up program. This initiative is ai med at benefiting children under the age of five studying in Government Palvadis and Kinder garten schools across Chennai.

The launch event was graced by Dr. Kalani dhi Veerasamy, Honourable Member of Parl iament, who presided as the Chief Guest an d officially inaugurated the program.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Raju Sivasamy, Vice President, SIMS Hospital, said:

‘Care Bears’ is an initiative spearheaded by the Paediatrics Department at SIMS Hospit al in collaboration with Government Palvad dis and Kindergarten schools across Chen nai. The program is designed to offer compr ehensive paediatric care t hat includes regu lar screening, early diagnosis, nutritional gu idance, and parent education.

As part of this outreach, a dedicated tea m of paediatricians and healthcare profession als from SIMS Hospital will conduct month ly visits to participating school s. Children a ged 0–5 years will be screened for growth parameters including height, weight, develo pmental milestones, and cognitive and em otional wellbeing. Additional assessments will include checks for chest deformities, d ental hygiene, sensory health such as visio on and hearing, and overall physical wellne ss.

Beyond health assessments, Care Bears w ill also feature interactive awareness  essio ns for parents, focusing on the importance of early intervention and how to nurture a healthy child. These sessions aim to equip parents with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their chil d’s health journey.

With a goal to impact 10,000 children by the end of 2025, SIMS Hospital reaffirms its co mmitment to preventive healthcare and co mmunity well-being – one child at a time.
